Was so much fun buying Maddy her letter jacket today!  Too bad I didn't keep my old Laker jacket....she could have been the only girl with the sailor flap on the back... haha 😉.  #LAKERVOLLEYBALL 

Big day for Maddie.....

Proud parents today!! Maddie had tryouts this morning for the Northern Lights club.  She did great and made the club for the 15's age group.  Now she will continue with the tryouts with choosing what team level she will be on. 

Then tonight she had her high school volleyball banquet.  Maddie lettered as a freshman.  Pretty excited to go buy her letter jacket tomorrow 😃

He had a blast! Trampoline fun, cosmic mini golf, and lazer tag!  Then I had quacking ducks all the way home......

The Prior Lake volleyball team completed the perfect South Suburban Conference season Oct. 14.

The No. 1-ranked Lakers swept Farmington (25-23 25-18, 25-17) to win the SSC title outright with a 9-0 mark. Junior Lara Schultz led the way with 17 kills and three ace serves.

Prior Lake (25-2) also earned the No. 1 seed in Section 2AAA. The Lakers will get a bye in the first round and face the winner of eighth-seeded Hutchinson (17-11) and ninth-seeded Buffalo (12-15) in the quarterfinals at home Oct. 24 at 5 p.m.

Chaska (19-3) earned the No. 2 seed, while Delano (23-4) is seeded third and Chanhassen (19-9) fourth.

Other first-round matches, which are Oct. 22: fifth-seeded Shakopee (17-10) versus 12th-seeded Mankato East (8-14), sixth-seeded Waconia (16-12) versus 11th-seeded Mankato West (11-16) and seventh-seeded Willmar (17-5) versus 10th-seeded New Prague (10-18).

The semifinals are Oct. 28 at the site of the higher seed, while the title game is Nov. 1 at a site to be determined.

"Our section is tough - really tough," said Lakers coach Mike Dean. "We have had some success against the teams in our section this season, but we know that the section at the end of the year is a different animal and teams will come out bringing their best.

"Our goal is to play up to our ability every time we get on the court and we feel if we do that we have a shot against any team in the section," added Dean. "We are looking forward to the challenge and hope to keep playing at a high level on the court."

In the win over Farmington, junior Olivia Spanton chipped in 11 kills, two ace serves and eight digs. Junior Ella Francis had eight kills and two blocks, while ninth-grader CC McGraw had six kills and 14 digs.

Senior Sammi Pratt led in set assists with 25, while sophomore Ellie Veldman had 18, along with six digs. Senior Brittany Luethmers finished with 37 digs. Ninth-grader Kayla Bair chipped in two blocks.

"I felt like we played some good defense against Farmington for the most part and did a nice job of limiting their hitters options against us," said Dean. "Offensively we had some good runs, but our consistency was not quite where we would like it to be.

"Farmington got some balls up that we thought were going to be down and I think that knocked us off our game a little bit," added Dean. "They were really scrappy and didn't let any plays die, which is something we expect in our conference and we will keep seeing into sections."

The No. 1-ranked Lakers went 5-0 and didn't lose a set, including rolling over No. 7 North St. Paul in the title match (25-22, 25-14). 

Prior Lake improved to 23-2 overall. The 23 victories also tie a program-best for wins in a season. The Lakers will try to break the mark in South Suburban Conference play Oct. 7 at No. 5 Lakeville South at 7 p.m.

Prior Lake goes into the match with the Cougars 7-0 in the SSC, while the Cougars are 6-1, as are No. 6 Eagan and Rosemount. 

At the invite, the Lakers swept Hill-Murray (25-20, 25-19) and East Ridge (25-18, 25-15) to open play Oct. 3. The next day, Prior Lake rolled Sioux Falls Roosevelt (25-14, 25-16) and Maple Grove (25-16, 25-16) to get to the title match.

Junior Lara Schultz had a dominate invite, recording 46 kills in the five matches, while adding 11 ace serves and nine blocks. She had 10 kills and four aces in the title match.

Junior Ella Francis finished with 28 total kills and two blocks, while junior Olivia Spanton had 19 kills, 44 digs and four blocks.

Ninth-grader CC McGraw finished with 23 kills, 30 digs, three ace serves and three blocks, while sophomore Anna Martin had nine kills and nine blocks and sophomore Maddie Bremmer had 10 kills and seven blocks.

Leading the offense was senior Sammi Pratt and sophomore Ellie Veldman, who finished with 60 and 51 set assists, respectively. Senior Brittany Luethmers had 71 digs in the five matches, while Pratt had 15 and Veldman had 14.

Prior Lake went into the invite off a SSC home sweep of Eastview Oct. 2. (25-16, 25-19, 25-18). Schultz finished with 17 kills to lead the way, followed by Spanton with nine, Martin with eight and Francis with seven.

Veldman led in assists with 15, while Pratt had 14. Pratt led in ace serves with five, while Schultz had four and McGraw had two.

Luethmers led in digs with 15, followed by McGraw (10), Pratt (8) and Spanton (6). Bremmer recorded two blocks.

The Lakers will close out the regular season Oct. 14 at home versus Farmington in SSC play at 7 p.m.
