Great bunch of girls!!!

Final results

Maddie's team tied for 5th place out of 48 teams!  They did a great job!

Bummer!

Did not end well!  Lost both of our sets to Nebraska one team.  Was not a good morning for our Lights!  Back to MN we go!

Going into tomorrow 6-0!

Girls played hard today!  We have a girl out with the flu, but girls stepped up to yet another obstacle.  Because we won all of our games....we get to sleep in tomorrow.   We play at 11am tomorrow.  If we loose....we are on our way home.  If we win...we keep going at 1 pm and 3pm.  

Maddie made the winning point of the last game!! :-)

Day 1 : we are first in our pool!

We won all of our matches and sets!!  Girls did a great job considering the surroundings of the courts.  We played today at the Omaha Civic center.  The basement is pretty disappointing.  Like last year, ceiling tiles would fall from the ceiling if hit hard enough.  Girls played through it, and won!  

Tomorrow we are in the convention center.  Start play at 3 pm again.  Get to sleep in tomorrow :-). 

Maddie played well coming off an injury.  We had another injury happen (rolled ankle) to our top setter. Maddie got put in and played every position, but middle hitter for that game.  Transitioned well (yes mom that means the back row too) :-) !  Hopefully all girls will be in working order tomorrow.

We are in Omaha!

     Arrived in Omaha last night!  Warmer weather here than back home.  Girls start the tournament off this afternoon at 3pm.  Kinda excited they got a late time, because their bus didn't pull in until late.  Big accident in Iowa put the buses at a stand still for an hour or two :-(. So girls were exhausted last night!

     Maddie loves her room and her roommates!  But most of all she has a bed to herself :-). The coaches made pillow cases to assign their rooms.  Pretty sweet!

     Today we will play at the Civic Center, not the convention center.  Hoping that we don't have the issues we did last year with the low ceilings :-(. Pretty hard to play volleyball with ceiling panels falling down on the courts.  

      As for Maddie's injury.....she was cleared to play last Monday.  No fracture, I guess.  We had her re-evaluated to find she has a ligament that is unstable around her ankle.  She was most likely born with it, but could be from multiple ankle rollings.  Surgeon said there is only 5% chance she will need to have that repaired in the future.  So that is good.  She was cleared without restrictions, but since she missed 2 weeks of hard practice she working into the routine again.  So she will be out of the game some this weekend.  She is happy she can play some :-).  This tournament is just a fun tournament, and doesn't qualify them for nationals or anything.  So the coach wants Maddie ready for when the games mean more.   Omaha is such a fun place!  Can't wait to see what the girls can do!  Go Lights!
